Update

Assalaamu’alaikum. As a long time member of ARCIIUM, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the organization. Firstly, I would like to thank the main board of ARCIIUM for facilitating and running the organization. And I would also thank all the previous main boards for their contribution to the organization. Further improving the quality and effectiveness of the organization while keeping track of our mission and vision is not an option. It is an obligation that one takes when being awarded a place in the main board. We are not hoping for more bombastic or frequent programs but just programs with better quality and achievements.
I hope that the organization will not be single track minded and focus on one type of program but instead, organize various types of programs to cater to the different needs and demands of the members. Our members are very diversified in terms of ability, interest, fitness, strength and talent. To be able to cater to all these elements won’t be an easy job especially when the authoritative body controlling us is not very cooperative but I hope that the main board will try it’s best to meet demands and satisfy the whole organization.
Do not get angry. Do not get emotional. Try to work with them instead of working for them. It may be difficult but humans are only humans and human thought and decision making can be manipulated. Think and decide wisely and if you push the right buttons, what we aim for can be achieved. Being angry and emotional will not only slow down our progress but it will also limit if not totally cut off the amount of control that we have over them. Remember the key words; work with instead of work for.
Programs. Instead of just attending a program and having a good time, why don’t we try add some substance in it so that when we are asked about the program, we’ll have a better answer than “We did it. We went there, we did it, then we came back.” We are intellectuals. What do we have to show for our programs? Photographs, shirts and certificates. Come on, that is what the rest of the world is doing. Everyone can achieve that. Why don’t we bring ourselves a cut above the rest of them. Get more out of the same program than the rest of them. With something to show, we are at an advantage because we have more to offer than our competitors.
Members. We need more members. I’ve been looking at the same faces for too long. Why do we keep getting the same people to join our programs? It would be nice to see some fresh new faces in the club. How do we achieve this? Promotion? Diversified programs? Maybe they are afraid to join us because they feel intimidated by us. That is unknown. This phenomenon is left to clear itself out.
Let’s just pray that the organization will see some improvement over all the previous terms. May Allah open up our hearts and the hearts of others so that the flow of our club can see an improvement and prove to other parties that we can do what we claim we can do.
Just some food for thought from an old timer…
