Report of Sg. Chilling Trip ‘09
The wonderful trip that was not to be…
We gathered at a warong in Kuala Kubu Baru at around 0815 for breakfast. Abe, Yahya and Kidin (from Gombak) and Arif Sukarno and Bonnie (from Serendah) attended the event. The food at that place was very good and was complimented by all members. After having our fill we pushed off to the starting point of Sg. Chilling.
We arrived at the “parking lot” at around 0930. As scheduled. We made all the necessary preparations such as changing, packing and such. We even brought equipment to stealthily catch fish. We didn’t enter the campsite through the conventional entrance but we took the quicker side entrance missing the welcoming signboards. When we got to the campsite, it was all locked up and nobody was there. We contemplated climbing the fence but being good muslims, we didn’t want to trespass.
So we went back out to the road via the proper trail. Upon reaching the entrance, we saw the signboards saying that the place is open from 0800 to 1800 everyday EXCEPT MONDAYS. Disappointed but determined, we went back to the car and started plotting plan B. Sg. Pertak.
After getting proper directions from Zack Damai, we went to Sg. Pertak (off Sg. Selangor Dam). We found a pool in the river not far from the road. It was big enough to swim around in and deep enough to perform acrobatic maneuvers. “OK Whaaat…” We swam around for a while and played cards and cooked instant noodles and had tea and all the usual stuff guys do during a trip. Not much conversation took place. I wonder why…
Upon reaching point “lebam”, we packed up and left the place. After a very scenic drive we had lunch at Batang Kali before dispersing to our homes to rest. The trip was very “educational” and incidental. We shared a few laughs together and had some fun sharing experiences and teaching each other new tricks. We hope that following trips will be planned out properly with the appropriate amount of research beforehand.
