On the 10th and 11th of July 2009, ARC IIUM has sent their climbing team to the Level 1 (top-rope belay system) Sports Climbing Course at Pusat Belia Rakan Muda Wilayah Persekutuan, Bukit Kiara. This course was sponsored by the Sport Complex of IIUM.
The programme started after the Jumaat prayer on the 10th with theory class by Kak Lily from Persatuan Mendaki Malaysia (PMM). The class that last till 10pm taught us the basic of sports climbing such as the equipments, belay and knots. Practical was held on the next day. Participants will be examined and observed by the instructors; Kak Lily, Abg Afifi and Ayap on the basic things that has been taught in the theory class.
The course went on smoothly and we had a great and wonderful experience and gained a lot of knowledge from the experts. Besides that, the hostel and the foods were good as well. “Terbaek!” Like everyone would say. At the end of the course, the participants received the card-look level one sport climbing certificate that is recognized by the Southeast Asia Climbing Federation (SEACF).
Thank you Sport Complex for giving us the opportunity. We really appreciate it.
